What this document covers
This document explains what the websites and applications of the Chakloon package store in your browser or on your device. It is part of our Privacy Policy.
The cookie consent widget that Chakloon Legal offers for your own website is a tool you place on your site. What cookies your site sets is up to you as its operator.
What we set
We use only cookies and similar storage that are needed for the services to work or that remember a choice you made:
- Session: keeps you signed in to Chakloon Passport and to the service you use, so that you do not have to sign in on every page.
- Security: protects sign-in and forms against forged requests and helps us notice abuse of an account.
- Preferences: remembers your language, theme and similar settings you chose.
On this information centre, info.chakloon.com, the cookie ck_info_lang remembers for one year the language you chose, so that the pages open in it next time.
In Chacki the session cookie chacki_sid keeps your session: for a guest until the browser is closed, with the record on our server kept for one day; for a signed-in user for 90 days, renewed, but for no more than 365 days in total.
In Chak the session cookie chak_session is set only for the owner signed in to the cabinet at chak.chakloon.com, and the cabinet keeps its interface dictionaries in local storage so that it opens faster. Visitors of Chak links and profile pages get no cookies and nothing in local storage from Chak.
These cookies and this storage are strictly necessary for a service you asked for or keep a choice you made. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and § 102¹ of the Estonian Electronic Communications Act, they therefore do not need your consent. The data in them is processed to provide the service (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for security, on the basis of our legitimate interest in protecting accounts (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). They do not follow you to other websites.
No tracking cookies
We do not use advertising, tracking or profiling cookies, and we do not place pixels or tags of social networks or ad networks on our pages. Chakloon Ads shows ads only on Chakloon's own sites and chooses them only by the languages set in your browser. The ad widget stores nothing on your device and sends no identifier of you. To limit how often the same ad is shown, our server uses a hash of the IP address and user-agent of the request, kept only as long as needed for these limits.
Audience measurement without cookies
We count visits with our own installation of Umami. It sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and gives us only aggregated numbers, such as how many people opened a page.
Local storage in apps
Websites and apps of the package may keep data in your browser's local storage or in the storage of the app on your device, for example:
- drafts of a message or a post you have not sent yet
- cached content, so that pages and conversations open faster
- your interface settings
- in the Chakloon Chat app, the data needed to show your conversations and deliver notifications
This data stays on your device and is used only for functions you use, so it does not need consent either. You can remove it by clearing the site data in your browser or by deleting the app; part of it is also removed when you sign out.
Third parties
Other companies can set their own cookies only when you use their service through ours:
- Stripe: when you pay by card, you do so on Stripe's payment page, and Stripe sets its own cookies there, for example to prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy and cookie policy.
- Sign-in providers: if you choose to sign in with Google, GitHub, Telegram, Discord, Facebook or W3ID, you are taken to that provider, and the provider's own cookies apply there.
No third-party cookies are set on our pages when you simply read them.
Your choices
You can view and delete cookies and site data in the settings of your browser, and you can block them. If you block the session cookie, you will not be able to stay signed in. Preference cookies only make the services more convenient; without them we fall back to the default settings.
Changes
If we start using a cookie of a new kind, we update this document before we do. Cookies that would need your consent will be used only after you have given it.
