Chakloon Sign
How to send a document for signature with Chakloon Sign, how recipients sign it, and what kind of electronic signature you get.
What it is
Chakloon Sign at sign.chakloon.com lets you send documents for signature and sign them in the browser. You upload a document, mark where it has to be filled in or signed, and send it to one or more recipients. When everyone has signed, the document is completed and an audit trail is attached to it.
Chakloon Sign is based on the open-source software DocuSeal (licence AGPL-3.0), with our own changes. You can get the source code of the version we run free of charge, as described in the Chakloon Sign Terms.

You do not need a Chakloon account to sign a document that was sent to you.
What kind of signature it is
A signature made in Chakloon Sign is a simple electronic signature (SES) under the EU eIDAS Regulation. It is not an advanced or a qualified electronic signature. It cannot be rejected as evidence merely because it is electronic, but it does not have by law the same effect as a handwritten signature, and some documents require a qualified signature, a handwritten signature or a notary. You decide whether a simple electronic signature is enough for your document. If you are not sure, ask a lawyer before you send it.
For every document we keep an audit trail: the e-mail addresses of sender and recipients, the date, time and IP address of each step, and the events such as sending, opening, signing and completion. The audit trail shows that a document was signed through access to a certain e-mail address. It does not by itself prove who the person behind that address is.
Full rules: Chakloon Sign Terms.
Keep your documents
A document and its audit trail stay in the sender's account until the sender deletes them or the account is closed. Chakloon Sign is not an archive. Every party should download the completed document with its audit trail and keep its own copy.
