Chakloon NIC

How handles work in Chakloon: one @name for all services, the rules for a handle, how to check and change it, and what to do in a dispute.

What it is

Chakloon NIC at nic.chakloon.com keeps the single namespace of handles for all Chakloon services. Your handle (@name) belongs to your Chakloon Passport account and is the same everywhere: in the social network, in Chakloon Chat, in Chak and in the other services. A handle taken by one account cannot be used by anyone else in any service.

Your handle is public. People see it next to your posts, messages, pages and links, and it forms your addresses, for example chakloon.com/@name.

The rules for a handle

A handle:

  • has 7 to 30 characters;
  • uses only Latin letters a–z, digits, the dot, the underscore and the hyphen;
  • has no spaces and no letters of other alphabets.

Some handles cannot be registered: offensive ones, ones that pretend to be an official role in Chakloon such as support or moderator, ones that impersonate a real person, organisation or brand you do not represent, and reserved words. A free handle goes to the first account that registers it. A handle cannot be sold or handed over to another account.

Check a handle

  1. Open nic.chakloon.com and sign in with your Chakloon Passport.
  2. Type the handle you want.
  3. You see whether it is free. If it is not, it is shown as taken, without further detail.

Choose or change your handle

  • You choose your handle when you create your Chakloon Passport, or the first time you sign in with Google, GitHub, Telegram, Discord, Facebook or W3ID.
  • To change it, open your profile at pass.chakloon.com and enter the new handle. The change applies in all services, and your previous handle is released.

Links that contain your old handle stop leading to you once it is released, so tell your contacts about the change.

Disputes, trademarks and where to write

If someone uses a handle that is your name, your trademark or the name of your organisation, or impersonates you, write to legal@chakloon.com. Give the handle, explain your right and attach proof, such as a trademark registration. We review the case and can take the handle away from an account that breaks the rules. The full rules are in the Handle Policy.
